At its core is the popular AMS1117 Low Dropout (LDO) linear regulator chip, which is surface-mounted onto a tiny printed circuit board alongside all the necessary supporting components. It features pre-soldered input and output filtering capacitors to ensure a clean, noise-free voltage, as well as a convenient onboard LED to let you instantly know that power is flowing.
Designed specifically for rapid prototyping and easy integration, this module features a simple three-pin header design (Input, Ground, and Output). It takes a slightly higher, unregulated input voltage—such as a 9-Volt battery or a 7.4-Volt lithium polymer pack—and steps it down to a highly accurate, continuous 5 Volts. Because it is so compact, it can easily be plugged directly into a breadboard or soldered permanently into your custom enclosures to run standard 5-Volt logic chips and development boards.
