The DHT11 is an ultra-low-cost, digital temperature and humidity sensor widely popular in the maker community for basic data logging, weather stations, and home automation. It uses a capacitive humidity sensor to measure relative humidity and a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor to capture ambient temperature. Inside its distinctive blue plastic shell, an 8-bit microcontroller processes these analog readings and transmits them as a digital signal over a single-wire proprietary protocol.
