The DS18B20 is a highly popular, programmable 1-Wire digital temperature sensor manufactured in a compact TO-92 transistor-style package. It provides highly accurate Celsius temperature readings directly to a microcontroller without needing an analog-to-digital converter.

TO-92 Pinout Configuration
When looking at the flat side of the TO-92 package with the leads pointing downward, the pins from left to right are:
  1. GND (Pin 1): Connects to the system ground.
  2. DQ / DATA (Pin 2): The data input/output pin. It requires a 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor connected between this pin and the power supply line (VDD) for reliable communication.
  3. VDD (Pin 3): Power supply pin. Alternatively, the sensor supports parasitic power mode, where it derives power directly from the data line, allowing operation using only two pins (GND and DQ).
