A Force Sensitive Resistor (FSR) is a sensor that decreases its electrical resistance as the force applied to its surface increases. When untouched, it acts like an open circuit with high resistance. Pressing it causes internal conductive layers to connect, dropping the resistance significantly. 
Key Features
  • Touch Detection: Ideal for detecting if an object is touching it and providing a rough estimate of pressure.
  • Not a Scale: They are not accurate enough for precise weight measurements.
  • Shapes: Available in round, square, or long strip form factors.
  • Uses: Found in electronic drum pads, robotic grippers, and touch buttons. 
Simple Wiring (Voltage Divider)
Microcontrollers read voltage, not resistance. To read an FSR, connect it to a fixed resistor to create a voltage divider: 
  • Connect one pin of the FSR to Power (5V or 3.3V).
  • Connect the other pin of the FSR to an Analog Input Pin.
  • Connect a 10kΩ Resistor from that same Analog Input Pin to Ground.
When you press the sensor, the voltage reading on the analog pin goes up.
