The KY-020 Tilt Switch Module is a gravity-operated digital sensor used to detect changes in orientation, motion, or tilting. It acts as a basic binary on/off switch rather than a precision sensor that calculates exact angles. 
Core Mechanism
Inside the small capsule on the board sits a tiny metallic ball. When you tilt the module past a certain angle, gravity causes the ball to roll and bridge two electrical contacts, closing the circuit. When tilted back, the ball rolls away, opening the circuit again. It serves as a modern, non-toxic, and eco-friendly alternative to older mercury-based tilt switches.

  • On-board Resistor: 10 kΩ pull-up/pull-down resistor to protect the circuit and stabilize the output signal.

Pinout Configuration
The module breaks out into three standard male header pins:

S Signal Connects to a digital input pin on your microcontroller.
[Middle Pin] Power (VCC) Connects to the 3.3V or 5V power rail.
- Ground (GND) Connects to the ground pin of your power supply/microcontroller.
