The KY-039 Finger Detection Heartbeat Sensor Module is an optical biometric component for DIY electronics. It uses an infrared (IR) LED and a phototransistor to detect changes in blood volume through a finger.

  • Touch Lightly: Pressing too hard blocks blood flow and kills the signal.
  • Code Filtering: The sensor outputs raw waves, so software smoothing is required to calculate actual BPM.
