The MP1484 fixed-output buck converter solves this problem beautifully by incorporating an innovative solder-pad array on the back of the printed circuit board. While you can use the onboard potentiometer to dial in a custom voltage, you also have the option to bypass the potentiometer entirely. By simply cutting a tiny trace and bridging a dedicated solder pad, you instantly lock the module to a permanent, factory-set 1.8-Volt, 2.5-Volt, 3.3-Volt, 5-Volt, 9-Volt, or 12-Volt output.

Built around the monolithic MP1484 synchronous switching regulator, this module readily accepts input voltages ranging from 4.75 Volts up to 18 Volts. Operating at a fixed 340 kHz switching frequency, it requires minimal onboard filtering components, keeping its physical footprint incredibly small while comfortably delivering up to 3 Amps of continuous load current. It is an outstanding, vibration-proof power solution for robotics, drones, and rugged industrial enclosures where an accidental voltage bump could destroy sensitive microcontrollers.
