The NE555 Adjustable Frequency Duty Cycle Signal Generator Module is a low-cost, highly versatile hardware tool used to generate square and rectangular wave signals. It operates as an astable multivibrator based on the classic NE555 timer IC.

  • Input Voltage: 5V – 15V DC
  • Input Current: ≥100mA
  • Output Amplitude: 4.2V V-PP to 11.4V V-PP
  • Output Current:
    • ~15mA (5V supply, V-PP >50%)
    • ~35mA (12V supply, V-PP >50%)
  • Output Type: Square wave / pulse signal (TTL compatible)
  • LED Indicator:
    • Low level = LED ON
    • High level = LED OFF
    • Low frequency = LED flashes

Frequency Ranges

  • LF: 1Hz – 50Hz
  • IF: 50Hz – 1kHz
  • HF: 1kHz – 10kHz
  • VHF: 10kHz – 200kHz

Adjustability

  • Adjustable frequency and duty cycle via potentiometers
  • Duty cycle and frequency are linked (adjusting one affects the other)
  • Frequency formula:
    T = 0.7 (RA + 2RB) C
  • Adjustable resistors: RA, RB = 0–10K
  • Capacitor selection for ranges:
    • Low frequency: C = 0.001µF
    • Intermediate: C = 0.1µF
    • High frequency: C = 1µF
    • Very high frequency: C = 100µF
