The NEO-6M GPS Module is one of the most popular and widely supported navigation boards in the maker community. Designed around the trusted Ublox NEO-6M chipset, this module provides highly accurate global positioning data—including latitude, longitude, altitude, and time—directly to your microcontroller using a simple UART serial interface.
This classic blue-board variant comes complete with a high-gain active ceramic patch antenna, ensuring strong satellite acquisition right out of the box. It features an onboard EEPROM and a rechargeable backup battery, which saves configuration data and satellite ephemeris. This allows the module to perform ultra-fast "hot starts" when powered back on, locking onto a signal in seconds rather than minutes.
Perfect For:
-
DIY Navigation Systems: An essential component for building custom GPS trackers, digital compasses, or geocaching devices.
-
Flight Controllers: Widely compatible with custom drones, RC aircraft, and autonomous rovers.
-
Microcontroller Prototyping: Easily integrates with standard 3.3V and 5V development boards using standard NMEA data parsing libraries.
