Required Circuit Interface Components
To successfully interface the sensor with a microcontroller (like an Arduino), you cannot simply connect power and read data. The internal infrared LED must be pulsed cleanly. Most retail packages include these two crucial components:
  • 150 Ω Resistor: Used to limit current to the infrared LED.
  • 220 μF Capacitor: Acts as a decoupling capacitor to stabilize power during rapid current spikes when the LED pulses.
Pin Configuration (6-Pin Connector)
  1. V-LED: Connects to 5V through the 150 Ω resistor.
  2. LED-GND: Connects directly to the system Ground.
  3. LED: Connects to a digital output pin on the microcontroller to toggle the infrared emitter.
  4. S-GND: Device circuit Ground.
  5. Vo: Analog output voltage pin connected to an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) input on your microcontroller.
  6. Vcc: Main 5V power supply input.
