The XH-W3001 Digital Thermostat (12V version) is a highly popular, low-cost microcomputer temperature controller module. It automatically manages connected devices like heaters or cooling fans using an integrated 10A internal relay switch.
Technical Specifications

  • Operating Voltage: 12V DC
  • Max Output Capacity: 10A (Up to 120W max at 12V)
  • Output Type: Direct output (supplies 12V DC directly through the output wires)
  • Temperature Range: -50°C to 110°C
  • Control/Measurement Accuracy: 0.1°C
  • Sensor Type: Waterproof NTC10K thermistor probe with a 1-meter cable
  • Dimensions: 60mm x 45mm x 31mm (Mounting hole distance: 73mm) [1, 2, 3, 4]
Wiring Schematic
The unit has 4 color-coded wire leads grouped into pairs:
  • Power Input (Powering the Thermostat):
    • Red wire: Connect to 12V DC positive (+)
    • Black wire (Input side): Connect to 12V DC negative (-)
  • Load Output (Powering the Fan/Heater):
    • Yellow wire: Connect to the positive (+) terminal of your 12V load
    • Black wire (Output side): Connect to the negative (-) terminal of your 12V load

Note: Wires must not be shorted, and the load must not exceed 120 Watts.
Programming Instructions
The thermostat works dynamically using two core settings: Start Temperature (P₀) and Stop Temperature (P₁).
Heating Mode (When Start Temp is LOWER than Stop Temp)
The relay turns ON when the sensor gets colder than the Start Temp, and turns OFF when it gets hotter than the Stop Temp.
  1. Press the Up arrow once to view the Start Temperature.
  2. Press and hold the Up arrow for 3 seconds until the screen flashes.
  3. Use the Up/Down arrows to set your lower target threshold.
  4. Press the Down arrow once to view the Stop Temperature.
  5. Press and hold the Down arrow for 3 seconds until it flashes, then adjust it to your higher target threshold.
Cooling Mode (When Start Temp is HIGHER than Stop Temp)
The relay turns ON when the sensor gets hotter than the Start Temp, and turns OFF when it gets cooler than the Stop Temp.
  1. Hold the Up arrow until it flashes and set it to your higher temperature limit (to kick the cooling system on).
  2. Hold the Down arrow until it flashes and set it to your lower target limit (to stop the cooling system).
Error Troubleshooting Codes
  • Displays "LLL": Indicates the NTC sensor probe is disconnected, broken, or open-circuit.
  • Displays "HHH": Indicates a short circuit in the sensor or that the temperature has exceeded 110°C.
